Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress that works in the fields of film, television and theatre. Her most well-known role is Teri Joe, a fiery lawyer in The Showtime program Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe is her new name since she got married. While growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always intrigued by acting. When she participated in an Maryland high school contest in her early years of training, she was awarded the title for best actress. Following her time in the theater and with 'The Washington Ballet Company' she graduated with a certificate in acting from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was her debut major role. This was followed by movies such as 'Boogie Nights Spark and Blue Streak. The film was highly praised for her performance on Soul Food. She has also starred in TV series like Second Time Around" and Empire. Earlier on in her life she was a part of numerous performances on stage. Parker who has a keen interest in politics and is married to model/actress Boris Kodjoe. The couple has two kids.

Contractor who was brought up by his parents from Nigeria and Mumbai before he turned 7, had traveled across the globe and lived through diverse cultures when he was a kid. The boarding school she attended was in London between seven and nine years of age, and then her family moved to Toronto, Canada, where she lived the bulk of her youth and early adulthood. Contractor was an outstanding student in Toronto and was trained as an expert ballet dancer. She studied at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a school of the arts that focuses on theater and dance. When she was 16 and after more than 10 years of dance Contractor discovered she was looking to take up acting as a profession. After graduating high school, Contractor accepted a scholarship at The University of Toronto to pursue the dual field of sociology and psychology. Additionally, she earned an advanced degree in theatre. Contractor got her first part in the midst of her university year. Her performance received rave reviews. her performance during the 92 performances that the play was voted"the best show of 2002" by Canadian reviewers in 2002. The actor was invited to take part in the conservatory course, in which the top eight men and four women are accepted for a course lasting 20 weeks on the classical stage that she gladly accepted. Contractor's place in the following play season was secured and she won the role as Hermia.
